INSULATION BASICS

Insulation is not a new concept but has been increasingly prioritized when optimizing comfort level and efficiency in the home. Starting January 2023, insulation installs in the home will be eligible for a significant tax credit through freshly launched federal energy program providing 30% (up to $1200) back on the cost of your insulation investment.

While insulating a home can be very technical & involve a multitude of factors, the basic concept is creating a "barrier" between the Air Conditioned space in your home, and the hot attic/roof/outdoor heat. When this barrier is effective the two temperature spaces can remain separated allowing your home air conditioning to cool more efficiently and prevent excessive hot temperatures above the ceiling from infiltrating the home.

While any improvement in insulation and energy efficiency on a home will be beneficial, the biggest impact will be observed in already built, under-insulated homes, homes with new renovations, or previously repaired damage where insulation is missing. Keep in mind that energy ratings and standards are constantly changing and a home might have been "within standard" in years prior but is currently under-insulated.
